The popular abbreviation is “520” from chinese internet slang follows similar rules to English slang. These numbers are pronounced as “wu er ling”, and due to some similarity to “wo ai ni” (我爱你I love you) 

For example chinese number stand for ...

    1 (yī,yāo)= 你 (nǐ),要 (yào)

    2 (èr) = 爱(ài)

    3 (sān) = 想(xiǎng),上(shàng),生(shēng)

    4 (sì) = 是 (shi),死（sǐ）

    5 (wǔ) = 我（wǒ),无(wú)

    6 (liù) = 了(le)

    7 (qī) = 妻(qī),气(qì),亲(qīn）

    8 (bā) = 发(fā),不(bù),抱(bào)

    9 (jiǔ) = 久(jiǔ),就(jiù),求(qiú)

    0 (líng) = 你(nǐ)

                 example of a dialog could be

                         520 我爱你 i love you

                         530 我想你 i miss you

                         921 就爱你 only you

                         88   拜拜   byebye
